Our guest – Iskender Usupbaev is a former intern at Bishkek Resource Center of Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan and senior student at the International University of Central Asia (IUCA) located in the city of Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan. He’s studying International Relations: Prevention of Regional Conflicts.
When enrolled in IUCA, Iskender became a scholarship winner of the UMAI Kyrgystan Scholarship. This organization helps disadvantaged people in Kyrgyzstan. Iskender has conducted a research for the UMAI Organization.
In 2013, Iskender was selected for Study Abroad Exchange Program, Edition 2 to study at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG). When studying at AUBG, Iskender has chanced to write his first publication on “The USA- Kyrgyzstan Relations, phases of development”. He also attended a Human Right Forum of young people in Budapest the same year.
Now he recently has been selected for Harvard Summer School Scholarship. He is a recipient of the grant that helps him to get the Harvard University and join summer school on Diplomacy and Negotiations. His internships taken at American Councils for International Education ACCELS and Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan assisted him to become an awardee of the scholarship to the Harvard University to the Summer School.
In addition to these, Iskender is selected for the Euro-Asian Excellence and Advancement Program to study a non-degree year at University of Ferrara under the Erasmus Mundus Program.
The meeting on August 24 will be devoted to helping participants of the presentation to be aware of educational opportunities that are available for Kyrgyz citizens abroad. If interested, you are welcome to join!
